Travel Bucket List: Château La Canorgue
Château La Canorgue is a family-owned estate and working vineyard about a mile from the town of Bonnieux in the Provence region of France. The chateau served as the backdrop for the film “A Good Year,” one of our favorite films—it’s the home that Max (Russell Crowe) inherits from his uncle in the movie. The wine shop is open to visitors and you can stroll among the grounds.
If you’ve seen the film, you probably remember the romantic scene where Max and Fanny (Marion Cotillard) meet for a date and it begins to rain as they sit outside at a cafe watching an old film. The setting for this scene was in Cucuron, and you can recreate your own romantic date with a visit to La Petite Maison de Cucuron for lunch al fresco. You can also visit Fanny’s bistro in the movie, filmed at Le Renaissance in Gordes.
