About Face: Michèle Ouellet of Lorenza Rosé

We’re thrilled to spotlight model Michèle Ouellet for the latest installment of our ABOUT FACE series! You may recognize Ouellet from fashion shoots and ad campaigns for the likes of Madewell and Verishop. But that’s only one part of Ouellet’s resume: When she’s not modeling, she’s making wine as half of the mother-daughter duo behind Lorenza Rosé (aka one of our favorite pink drinks!).

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Lorenza, so we were extra excited to catch up with Ouellet and get the scoop on her daily skincare routine, her make-up must-haves, and her beauty favorites, including a chic new French skincare brand, the cool skin tool she uses every morning, and her current eyeshadow obsession! HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SKIN?

My skin tends to be more on the dry side because I normally travel so much. Since quarantine, it’s been less dry! Probably thanks to a break from the plane and also less makeup. I’m also pretty sensitive and can deal with redness too.

WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT A.M. SKINCARE ROUTINE?

Depending on the state of my skin, I’ll either use a rose face wash or Dr. Barbara Sturm exfoliating wash. If I’m shooting that day, I’ll do a Ziip instant gratification treatment and/or Estée Lauder eye patches. Then I’ll use Susanne Kaufmann eye creme. Next is Typology squalane serum followed by either Embryolisse or The Lost Explorer prickly pear moisturizer.

WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT P.M. SKINCARE ROUTINE?

I do a cleanse with Bioderma and Embryolisse, and Susanne Kaufmann eye creme.

FAVORITE FACE MASK?

I like the rose gold 111Skin masks. I also have been using this blue Dr Dennis Gross mask which is really fun to paint on and gives great fresh skin after.

ANY FAVORITE SKINCARE TREATMENTS?

I love lymphatic drainage massage from Ricari Studios. It’s a full body treatment, but she also does your face. Nice and sculpting. I find that I break out when I get facials done, so I don’t do them so often. I love doing infrared saunas too, but during quarantine it’s not been possible to go. I got an infrared blanket from Higher Dose and set up a mini spa at home where I chill out in my blanket and watch RuPaul’s Drag Race. HEAVEN!

THE SKINCARE OR MAKEUP BRAND YOU’RE CURRENTLY CRUSHING ON?

Typology from Paris is a really great and affordable line with ingredient transparency. Ilia is really exciting in the clean beauty space—I’m looking forward to trying more products from them. I’m also obsessed with Kosas 10 second eyeshadow in Globe! Easiest application ever and adds some subtle glamour even for staying home.

FAVORITE OR CURRENT MASCARA?

Glossier Lash Slick. Really happy with this one! Very natural, no flaking, easy to remove. I also have a Marc Jacobs mascara when I want more drama!

GO-TO LIP GLOSS, LIPSTICK, OR LIP TINT?

I use Laniege Berry Sleeping Mask all day, every day. If wearing a lip, I use NARS red in Starwoman. That stuff stays on all night long!

WHAT DO YOU WEAR ON YOUR SKIN ON THE DAILY?

I usually use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, but I am just trying out Ilia’a new Super Serum Skin Tint SPF. Not sure I have the exact right shade for me, but I’m loving the texture and keeping light coverage and SPF in minimal steps. No blush or bronzer for me!

CURRENT BROW SITUATION?

All natural. Never pluck, shape or anything. Very lucky! If I do only one thing in the morning it is a swipe of Glossier Boy Brow in brown. I feel naked without a little brow.

FOR A NIGHT OUT: BOLD LIP OR BOLD EYE?

I like both! Not at the same time though. I love a totally clean face with a fierce red lip. Although, I love to eat and that can get messy, so I’ve recently been playing with eyeshadow and eyeliner! So much fun. I like rosy, peachy bronzy colors for eyes. I use Charlotte Tillbury eyeshadow pallet in Bella Sofia and RMS pots. Marc Jacobs Highliner is really great too and comes in lots of fun colors. Also the aforementioned Kosas 10 second eyeshadow is my new BFF!

WHAT’S YOUR SIGNATURE SCENT?

Since I work in the wine industry, perfume is not really welcome. I love it on my fiancé though. He wears Another 13 by Le Labo.

ANY BELOVED BEAUTY TOOLS?

Ziip! An incredible tool that really makes a difference. It’s a nanocurrent and conductive serum, which gives you a little sculpting, lifting, and depuffing. I use it every morning before work.

FAVORITE BEAUTY TIPS OR TRICKS?

Moisturize! Use clean products when possible. Use your products intuitively. Everyone has unique skin and only you know what feels best.

BEST BEAUTY ADVICE YOU’VE HEARD OR THE BEAUTY MANTRA YOU LIVE BY?

I’ve found that when I meditate regularly, my skin glows. Beauty comes from within and a smile is the best makeup.

WHO’S YOUR BEAUTY ICON AND WHY?

I’d say my mom and business partner, Melinda Kearney. She’s a true natural beauty with wild curly hair that I am always jealous of! She radiates from within!
